The Pathology Core Laboratory offers the following services:
Histology
Histology related services include fixation, processing, embedding, and sectioning of human and animal tissues. We provide formalin fixed paraffin embedded (FFPE) services for routine histology. Routine H&E staining and special stains are also performed in our Pathology Core Laboratory. We can advise researchers on tissue preparation, preservation and handling to ensure high quality results.
Immunohistochemistry
Services include manual immunohistochemical labeling of established antibodies, and optimization of new antibodies with a variety of detection systems is performed. Customized biomarker detection services according to your specific needs are also available. The detection system most frequently used is the HP system using DAB with Hematoxylin counterstain. Pathology consultation to assist in Interpretation of stains may be requested as necessary.
Cryosectioning
Many antigens and RNA do not survive routine histological processes. An alternative method requires tissue to be frozen and sectioned in a cryostat. Antigen preservation is always superior in Cryosectioning, but frozen sections are inferior in morphology of the tissue.
Necropsy
We can help you in Gross examination, either full tissue collection or specific interested tissue collection. Tissue trimming also is done.
Pathology
Pathology consultative services are available for studies using human tissues and animal models. Interpretation of immunological stains by a pathologist is provided.
Core imaging facility also available through the Center for Microscopy and Image Analysis.
